Tour Gardens
Fontaine Garden
310 Milledge Heights, Athens
This large historic property sits on the corner of Milledge Heights and Greenwood Drive. The current owners re-landscaped the yard five years ago planting new perennials and shrubs while retaining a natural creek and mature camellias growing under the canopy of old-established trees. Reputedly, the "Tallest Crepe Myrtle in Georgia" is also to be found in this yard.
WILL-CALL: Pick up online tickets in this garden first!
Alhadeff Garden
255 Plum Nelly Drive, Athens
As you approach the Alhadeff garden along a scenic, tree-lined driveway, you'll be welcomed into a garden of character. Towering trees provide a natural canopy, leading you to the house where lush terraces cascade down toward a sparkling pool, rabbit hutch, and a well-maintained pickleball court. The gardens extend all the way to the edge of the Middle Oconee River, creating a peaceful riverside oasis.
Hayes Garden
550 Milledge Circle, Athens
Dr Richard Hayes describes himself as a "yardener" and the extensive, manicured lawn here does him justice. Surrounding the lawn are mature shrubs and trees. By the side of the swimming pool, on a sunny wall is a magnificent espaliered fig. The garden is integrated into the house - there is even a jungle within the bathroom.
Kuykendall Garden
505 Woodlawn Avenue, Athens
One of our own garden club member gardens! Perched on a slope, the Kuykendall house has a colorful front garden designed to attract pollinators. At the back, the lush woodland garden is shaded by large trees and slopes downhill towards a creek. On the far side of the house is a beekeeping area for the bees which forage among the plantings here. Stop by for some honey tasting direct from the hives! This garden includes lots of steep or uneven terrain, so guests with mobility concerns may want to consider whether or not to tackle the steep driveway.
Pepper Garden
258 Lyndon Street, Athens
The Pepper property is a can't-miss gem! Bursting with color and whimsical charm, the house and garden blend vibrant plants with eclectic objets d'art. As you stroll along the driveway toward the back, you’ll discover a trove of unique details and creative arrangements. Be sure to linger in the yard to appreciate the impressive collection of R.A. Miller's folk art, where each piece adds a distinctive, joyful touch.
